Photoshoot F A Q & Tips
Time - The shoot is scheduled to begin and end at specific times – arrive at least 15 minutes early. If you will be arriving at the shoot late please contact me as soon as you know – even if it is only 5 minutes late, please contact me.
Cleanliness - Please arrive squeaky clean with a recent shower. Arrive at the shoot freshly shaved or plucked – legs, armpits and any other areas that may show that would draw attention. Make sure your fingernails are freshly trimmed and polished. If your feet will show please have your toe nails trimmed and freshly polished as well. Make sure to apply lotion to any parts of your body that will be visible in the photographs. Bring a small towel to remove excessive sweat, makeup, body lotion before or during the shoot.
Makeup - Make sure your makeup is fresh and applied BEFORE the shoot. Doing your makeup during the shoot takes away from your allotted time. Gloppy or old makeup on your face, eyes or lashes will show – it needs to be smooth and the best quality you can afford. Due to environment of the shoot, your makeup may run from perspiration – use waterproof or bring extra makeup if you need to quickly reapply more. Do not use too many sparkles - they can reflect light and look like dust on the camera sensor! You will probably wipe or lick your lips during your shoot, so bring fresh lip gloss or lipstick to do touch-up. Use lip balm for a few days in advance of your shoot to make your lips look their best.
Clothes - Clothes should be freshly cleaned and pressed. Arrive with the clothes you plan on wearing for the shoot. Any additional outfits should be placed in a protective covering to keep them from getting dirty when you are not wearing them. Clothes should fit properly and be in good repair – try them on before arriving – i.e. bulges or zippers that will not close.
Altering Substances - Do not drink alcohol or take any mind altering substances before or during the shoot. It is important that everyone involved in the shoot is safe and has fun. We will stop the shoot if either of these is in question.
Friends and helpers - You may bring a (1) friend with you – They may watch and assist you with preparation but must remain calm, quiet, and stay out of the production space.
Props - If you want to use props such as a hat, skate board, etc. please make sure to bring it with you. Some ideas to consider – they make a huge difference and add some variety! Hats, scarves, head bands, gloves, earrings, bridal veils and trains, tiaras, other hair pins or fancy items, hair braids, ribbons, jewelry, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, pins, belly ornamentation, toe rings, bangles, large or special rings, beads – lots of colors – big, small, shiny, peals, feathers, flowers, lace, leather, latex, lingerie of all types - the softer, silkier the better, sparkles, jackets, bow ties – Furniture – chairs, bar stools, vases, tables, wine bottles, champagne glasses, etc, beautiful fabric to drape, rugs, flower petals, other items to put around you on the floor to add color, umbrellas, clothes from your culture, exercise equipment, sports equipment, ropes, chains, temporary tattoos, stuffed animals, clocks, and time pieces, etc - bring whatever else is special to you!
